Meet Amanda!

Amanda has been a dog owner and involved in all types of small and large animals her entire life. Graduating from West Virginia University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. Amanda has also been a licensed Veterinary Technician for over 10 years and in 2018 became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner from the University of Tennessee. Prior to opening AugustaK9trails, LLC (Augusta K9 Center) in 2020 she was with Virginia Veterinary Specialists of Charlottesville, VA as an Anesthesia Technician and Supervisor of their Surgical Department.

As an entrepreneur, she's excited to be putting her skills to work by helping dogs in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas, who can benefit from additional exercise and rehabilitation. This naturally includes all pets, young and old that are needing of any additional fitness regimen. But most importantly being able to help your pets who have had an injury or are recently healing from post-operative surgery.

When she's not working with her furry friends she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter, their 2 dogs, 3 cats, and plethora of chickens.

Rehabilitation Assistant

Meet Olivia!

Olivia is our dedicated Rehabilitation Assistant who helps with all physical therapy and rehab-hydro sessions. You'll also find her having fun in the pools assisting with all the different swims we offer.

Olivia's passion for animals led her to study Veterinary Assisting at Valley Career and Technical Center. She gained hands-on experience by shadowing at the Augusta SPCA Spay/Neuter Clinic and volunteering at Bunny Lu Rabbit Rescue. In 2023, she earned 2nd place in the Spotsylvania Veterinary Science Competition. Olivia is currently working on her Veterinary Technician's license through Blue Ridge Community College.

When she's not helping our canine clients, Olivia enjoys fishing and taking trips to the beach.

Canine Hydrotherapy Coach, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Meet Grace!

Grace is a dedicated and passionate member of our team, bringing a genuine love for animals to her role as a Canine Hydrotherapy Coach. Grace joined our team in 2023.

Grace’s expertise is built on a strong foundation in animal care. She is a licensed Veterinary Technician and has a background in Veterinary Assisting. She has completed a 350-hour externship at Staunton Veterinary Clinic, where she gained valuable hands-on experience. Before joining Augusta K9 Center, Grace spent several years in the equine industry, which gave her a deep appreciation for the unique needs of all companion animals. Her transition to canine hydrotherapy was driven by a desire to improve the quality of life for dogs through low-impact exercise. She is currently enrolled in North Carolina State's companion animal rehabilitation therapist program and on track to complete her certification in June of 2026.

Grace’s love for animals extends to her personal life, where she enjoys spending time with her two beloved labs. Outside of work, she loves to unwind by baking, which allows her to express her creativity.

Canine Hydrotherapy Coach, Certified Canine Strengthening & Conditioning Coach

Meet Tori!

Tori is an invaluable part of the Augusta K9 Center team and our very own Certified Canine Strengthening & Conditioning Coach, a credential she earned from North Carolina State University. Since joining the Augusta K9 family in 2024, she has been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of canine performance and wellness. In her role as Operations Lead, Tori oversees the daily functions of our facility and equipment management, ensuring everything is in peak condition for our patients and staff.

As a key member of our hydrotherapy and fitness team, Tori leads our conditioning and fitness sessions, as well as our Fundamentals of Dock Diving program. She also conducts assisted and free swims for our clients. Within our facility, she provides the essential services that allow our rehabilitation team to shift a patient from the initial healing phase into active muscle development and long-term joint protection. Her expertise ensures a seamless transition back to full mobility, helping dogs rebuild the functional strength needed to prevent future injuries. Whether a dog is returning to the competition field or just back to their favorite hiking trail, Tori ensures they do so with a solid athletic foundation.

Tori truly lives the "sport dog" life. In her free time, she devotes herself to dock diving, barn hunt, and Fast CAT with her own dogs. This first-hand experience with the physical demands placed on competitive athletes drives her passion for improving her clients' physical mobility and ensuring they stay sharp both mentally and physically.

Receptionist, Social Media Coordinator

Meet Jenna!

Jenna is our receptionist and social media gal.

Jenna has always had a special connection with animals. From riding horses as a young girl, to advocating for shelter animals as an adult, and wanting to pet every single dog along the way, her happy place is working with dogs. Before working at Augusta K9 Center, she worked at Richmond Animal League as a kennel assistant, which only intensified her desire to save them all. She has also been a photographer for close to 20 years and her favorite subject to photograph is…you guessed it…dogs.

In her spare time, Jenna loves to travel with her husband and her dog, Appy. Seeking out adventures that include her dog is a top priority when planning any trip!

Receptionist

Meet Madie!

Madie has joined us as a receptionist. She earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from James Madison University and was recently accepted into the radiography program at Sentara RMH School of Radiologic Technology. Over the years, Madie has taken on various roles, including artist assistant at George Mason University's Hylton Performing Arts Center, nanny, and rock climbing instructor.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with her beagle.

Acupuncturist, DVM, cVMA

Meet Dr. Brandy Callison!

Dr. Callison was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley. After completion of her undergrad at Virginia Tech, she pursued her veterinary degree at Oklahoma State University.

Following graduation she found Acupuncture after developing her own back pain that didn't respond to medications. It worked wonders for her so she decided to pursue training in this modality to better help pets in pain.

Dr. Callison will be providing Acupuncture and multi-modal Pain Management sessions.

Chiropractic & Consulting Rehabilitation Veterinarian, DVM, CAC (AVCA)

Meet Dr. Hannah Plaugher!

Dr. Plaugher grew up on a small horse farm in West Virginia where she knew from a young age, she wanted to be a veterinarian. She received a Bachelor of Science in Animal & Nutritional

Sciences from West Virginia University prior to attending veterinary school at Mississippi State University. While in veterinary school, she received the Gentle Doctor Award, an award selected by her classmates for who they feel demonstrates the most compassion while caring for patients and would want to treat their own animals.

Dr. Plaugher is passionate about pain management in her patients and uses chiropractic to add a holistic approach to overall wellness and mobility support. She is certified to treat many species, although she most commonly performs adjustments on dogs and horses. In her expanded role as the Consulting Veterinarian for our Rehabilitation Department, she integrates her deep knowledge of musculoskeletal health directly into our patients' rehab plans. By providing medical and structural oversight, she works closely with our practitioners to ensure every treatment plan is medically tailored for optimal progress and long-term success.

In her free time, you can find Dr. Plaugher spending time with her own horses, her two weimaraners, and her family.
